Tasting Notes for Ferreira 'Dona Antonia' Vintage Character Port

Pleasant and unusual. Dry notes, with a pronounced spiciness (clove?) and pepperiness to the palate. Slightly dusty. Cassis overtones. Nose shows zante currants. The mouthfeel is strikingly liqueurish. Dry cherry flavor late in the finish, and then subdued grape skins. Warming in the esophagus and stomach in the same manner as the malt Talisker. A very interesting port. [April 2000]
