Tasting Notes for 1997 Benton Lane Pinot Noir

Nose is not very expressive. Presents first with bubbly, seemingly-carbonated flavors on the front of the tongue and back along the center. Almost champagne-like. Back of tongue shows flavors reminiscent of over-enthusiastic white wine. Fruity, although fruit flavors are not very specific. Fairly dry, with a strikingly dry finish. If you want an Oregonian Pinot Noir in this price range ($12 for this bottle) go for a King's Estate instead. Served alongside simple dinner of vegetable soup and french bread. [April 2000]
