Pain update

I refilled my ten-day pain med prescription today, exactly (almost to the minute) ten days after my last one.  For ten days I get 120 pills.  I finished my course with one pill left.  This may seem like nothing, but to me, it’s a Big Deal®.

I also gave in and bought an adjustable cane.  My sciatica⁄pride ratio reached the tipping point.  Between that and the retro cap I wear (which looks vintage, and covers my hair color), I look like a (huge) old man.

Quoted from an email answer to a concerned friend:

The number (120) is deceptively high.  They are a quarter the strength of the normal pills they prescribe for this condition, and it’s significantly less pain medicine than I was taking when I was “only” taking six or eight pills per day.  I asked for the lower dosage so that I can take less when I need less, and not be incapacitated all the time.

This seems to be the rightish dose, because my needs so closely match my prescription when averaged over ten days.
