Windows Mobile Solitaire

Sweet baby cheeses.  I would have thought that devising theoretically-unsolvable Solitaire puzzles would be difficult, a problem beyond Microsoft’s grasp.  But I have now played 1.232 trillion games of Solitaire on my mobile phone, and have yet to win a single one.  Shenanigans!

Yeah what is up with WM5 solitaire?!?    It’s got to be the hardest game of solitaire ever….  I win about probably…. 1 out of every 20 or 30 hands dealt… but the score rarely resets to 0 and nor does the time.. where do we find the rules for this bizarre game?!

I do hereby declare myself… RUFIO for the remainder of the thread.

    That is all.

I’ve been trying to figure out the scoring rules.  I’ve won about five or six games thus far.  I’ve got this:

    Solitaire patterns

The line’s formula is -15.54 * (time in seconds) + 7218 … almost.  I expect it’s more complex than that, but that is suggestively linear.

Yesterday, I got to a point where I just needed to add one more king to a pile to win the game.  I set the phone down and went to lunch.  When I got back, 3000 seconds had elapsed and the score had gone to zero.  I stacked the king, and got 115 points for the move.  So we can be pretty sure that your score will never be less than zero.  I think 115 might be the lowest score one can get and still win — unless it would have been less than 115 points if, say, 6000 seconds had gone by.

If you have time/score pairs, post them here and we can add more sample points.

I just realized that one of my best friends works at MS, in the Windows Mobile division and he’s one of the heads of marketing..  I’m going to ask him tonight if he can send me the rules :)
